Easter Sunday is quickly approaching, and if you don’t already have your Sunday service plans set in stone,

it’s not too late to bring everything together. We’re sharing some simple things to check off your list before Easter arrives, so your church is well prepared for the special weekend and new faces who may be joining you.

Decorate you church

Easter is a time of joy and celebration, and the church should reflect this. Consider decorating the church with colorful flowers, banners, and other festive decorations that convey the message of resurrection. If you have a specific message for your Sunday service (and we bet you do!), consider leaning into a theme that carries throughout everything. From your decor and sermon message to your branding on lyrics and printed programs, play into consistent message, branding, and other visuals. 

Even if you’re not physically starting decorating your space until the days before Easter, you can begin purchasing or making the decor you know you’ll need for that weekend. 

Invite everyone

Use social media, email, and other communication channels to invite people to attend the Easter Sunday service. Encourage members to invite their friends and family members who may not have a church home or who are traveling and out of their normal routine. Beyond digital invites, be sure to mention the upcoming service at your regular gatherings, create printed invites your congregation can hand out locally, and consider offering additional service times to accommodate the potentially larger gathering. 

Plan for online attendance

While new faces will likely be at your Easter Sunday service, many people may not be able to attend the service in person due to travel restrictions, health concerns, or other reasons. Consider streaming the service online so that people can participate from the safety and comfort of their homes or other spaces. 

Prepare for fellowship

Easter is a time of fellowship and community – and the perfect occasion to create reasons for people to connect. For your Sunday Easter service, plan to have refreshments, coffee, and other simple activities set up that encourage members to connect with each other after the service. Because so many new faces may be coming through your doors this day, it’s also important to have members of the church available to talk with those who have questions and greet everyone as they enter and leave the church. 

Through these efforts, you can create a sense of community and fellowship among your members and guests, fostering a shared sense of belonging and purpose.

Design your Easter service digital marketing collateral

If you have a theme for your Sunday Easter service, carrying that message throughout your digital collateral is a great way to tie everything together. Graphics, animations, videos, and language can all help play into the overarching theme and make all aspects of your service feel intentional. 

Using a cohesive brand for your fonts, colors, logos, and other graphic elements will also help guests who may not be a regular member of your church recognize your organization in other places, too. Whether they see your logo in a local paper or hear your name on the radio, consistency will increase your brand awareness and help others recognize you – anywhere they are.
